Started in the eighties, the ZeitGeist series consisted of drawings with reprographic montage, including pictorial motifs related to the hypothetical "Spirit of History", or, to the global events occuring year after year. Symbols and elements related to progress, regress, ongoing problems, are embedded in the image - gun violence, virus threat, religious conflict, extinction of species -- were already there all those decades ago. Stupidity is not shown, it can be assumed to persist, however the history unfolds...
What you see here is an early attempt to digitise the eighth image of that series, to make it match the other, fully digital, ZeitGeists that came in this century, like ›Zeitgeist20... these attempts will continue, as part of ›Counted Edition, however, an ›entirely new version of this image was made - assigned to the year 2000, there will eventually be one for each year that follows (within my lifetime)... Those images are re-created with each issue, as ›Versioned Edition Art Objects (VEAs) -- you can contribute, personalise and even directly participate in creative process adding your own elements (in this case they must be preceding the year 2000).
